Just a couple of things this time

Garnier Body Hydra Express 24H Hydrating Gel-Cream

Finally, I’ve finished off the last of the bottles of gel-cream formulation! As expressed in my previous empties post, I am not a fan of the gel-cream and am quite excited to be finally done with them. Am definitely not repurchasing this version.

Pur-Lisse Pur-Moist Hydra-Balance Moisturizer

A sample I received in a Luxebox, this moisturizer was ok. Though it was hydrating, it did have a bit of a greasy feeling afterwards. Will not be purchasing this.

Managed a few big things this month

Laneige Light Balancing Emulsion

Full review currently cooking on the back burner. Another product from Laneige that is for the oily-combination skin types. This was perfect for me in the summer as I was able to get just enough hydration into my skin without overdoing it. It definitely would not be enough hydration in the drying winter months – just to keep in mind.

Lancome Bienfait Multi-Vital 30 SPF High Potency Daily Moisturizing Cream

Full review here.

Shiseido Ibuki Refining Moisturizer Enriched

This is currently one of my favourite night creams. Have another on backup already!

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser – foaming formula

Full review here.

Plus getting through some of the sample stash too

Naisture 15minutes: mask pack – Moisture Green tea

I’m finally getting around to using these masks! I purchased a bunch of these Naisture masks a couple years ago when I went on vacation to San Francisco. These are made in Korea and I can’t find much info about them. A full review is cooking while I go through the rest of them. In short, I do like these masks and would get more if I could!

Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream

I had a full review of the Gel Cream version here. This is the Moisture Cream version. It is very hydrating, and would work well in the dry winter time for intense moisturizing. It’s a bit heavy for summer time unfortunately.

Laneige Perfect Renew Dual Touch Eyes

I definitely left this sample around too long because I wasn’t able to use the day side. This sample had two wells – one each for day and night. The day side (which contains SPF 25) was dried up and unusable. The night side was still good and hydrated my eyes nicely. N0t sure if I would purchase this as I usually like to use a day cream with SPF instead of multiple products that have SPF in it.

Elizabeth Arden Prevage Anti-Aging & Intensive Repair Eye Serum

I got a sample of this from a Luxe Box and it’s quite nice. It is hydrating, however I definitely can not justify the price tag. $155 for 15ml??聽No thanks. I’ve definitely used other eye creams for significantly less and does just the same.

Murad Clarifying Wipes for blemish-prone skin

Another sample from Luxe Box. I wouldn’t recommend this at all. I don’t have blemish-prone skin but even for those that do, I strongly suggest you use something else. For one thing, it聽burns. All I did was wipe my face lightly with it and my face felt like it was on fire. It turned red and and quite warm to touch. Am never using this again. My skin did not like it at all.

Murad Pore & Line Minimizing Hydrator

And another sample from Luxe Box. It’s hard to say whether this did anything as it was pretty much a one time use. Also, my skin was still burning from the above clarifying wipes so I can’t give a proper review. One thing I did notice was the smell – it had a very strong plastic smell (almost nauseating for me) and that was enough to turn me away from it.

March to July 2015 Empties

Could it be that the hiatus is over? Well, not exactly. Now that baby is taking somewhat regular naps, I figure I should try to catch up a little bit. Reviews won’t be coming as quickly as they used to, but I’m working on it. Thank you for sticking with me for so long. 馃檪

Mainly big items over these 5 months

Garnier Body Hydra Express 24H Hydrating Gel-Cream

I liked the Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days lotion so I figured I’d give the Hydra Express a try. Plus, they were a steal from the Spring L’Oreal Warehouse sale so why not stock up? In the end, I wasn’t fan of the gel-cream at all. On application, it felt like there was a microbe residue that I couldn’t rub completely into my skin, even though I couldn’t see the beads. The Mr. and I used it religiously every day just for the sake of using it up quickly. I wouldn’t recommend this and am not buying multiple bottles of it again!

Thyme Maternity Soothing Therapy Stretch Mark Cream

Full review here.

Lanc么me G茅nifique Youth Activating Concentrate

Full review聽here. The one I finished here is the old formulation. Am currently using the new formulation again!

Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Light

Love this during the summer. It’s mainly for oily-combination skin types which is perfect for me in the summer time. It soothes the skin and preps it well for serums and moisturizers.

Marcelle Ultra Gentle Cleansing Gel

Working on a full review and this worked so-so聽with my skin. I can’t comment on how well it removes makeup (I honestly didn’t wear any bit of makeup since the baby was born). It didn’t pass my Clarisonic test as it got into and irritated my eyes. Will post a full review soon.

Aveeno Skin Relief Moisturizing Lotion with Cooling Menthol

Full review here.

February 2015 Empties

Garnier Body Intensive 7 Days Soothing Lotion in honey

Full review here.

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser foaming formula

I absolutely love this facial cleanser and have been using it for over a year. Look out for a full review coming soon!

The Body Shop Almond Conditioning Hand Wash

I originally used this a couple years ago when my eczema was really bad, and then stopped using it for unknown reasons. I’ve since rediscovered it and love it again. Look for a full review on this coming soon as well.

Lanc么me G茅nefique Eye Youth Activating Eye Concentrate

I received this as part of a gift with purchase from The Bay. It lasted me quite a while (almost a month!) and definitely kept my eye area nicely hydrated, but I haven’t really noticed any anti-aging changes. I don’t have any eye wrinkles to begin with, so perhaps it’s more of a preventative measure. I like it, but I don’t think I can justify the price on this one when there are other hydrating eye creams out there that work for me.

Softlips Lip Moisturizer SPF20 in watermelon

Softlips s one of my favourite lip products so I’ll pick up a couple here and there. I like that there’s multiple scents to choose from, but they all go on clear so it’s perfect for night time use. I’ve got another 3 backups to go through.

Colab Dry Shampoo in London and Rio

I will save the rave review for an upcoming post but in short, I am loving this dry shampoo and can’t wait to get my hands on another canister!

January 2015 Empties
Just a small amount of empties to start off this year聽

Nexxus Therappe Ultimate Moisture Shampoo and Conditioner

I’ve been using this shampoo and conditioner for the past year and like it a lot. It leaves my hair really shiny and soft. The only thing with my oily scalp is that I do need to wash daily or else I have too much oil built up in the hair. Otherwise, my hair is healthy and beautiful. Definitely will be repurchasing this one. These giant pump bottles were purchased at my local Costco.

Lanc么me Tonique Radiance

Full review here. I especially love this stuff in the summer time.

Lanc么me Bi-Facil

I have lost track of how many bottles I’ve gone through but I love this stuff and will continue to use it. Waterproof eye makeup just melts off with ease. I still have 2 more back-up bottles in my stash.

December 2014 Empties

without comments

I really need to get better at writing these up sooner rather than later. In any case, here are the few empties that I managed to acquire in December.

December 2014 Empties

Laneige Moisture Balancing Emulsion

A mini from a sample kit I received last year, I finally finished off what was left of the bottle. It’s hydrating with a light fragrance (which I love) and is perfect for day time use. Would definitely purchase a full size of it.

Lanc么me Cr猫me Douceur

I’ve had this for a couple of years but only use it once in a while when I’m not too lazy and want a deep cleanse. I find it works really well taking off the day’s worth of make up, and nicely soothes and hydrates the skin as well. This was my first cream-to-oil cleanser that I’ve tried, and I really like the lotus smell it has. Massage a small amount into the face, then hop into the shower for a rinse off.

Lanc么me G茅nifique Repair Youth Activating Night Cream

I’ve used the G茅nifique serum for years (speaking of which, I really need to sit down and write up that review), so when a skincare kit was on sale last year for the G茅nifique line, I jumped at the chance to try it. The cream is thick, and while I can’t really see any anti-aging properties at work, I’m likely not going to purchase this one on my own. I’ll save more info about it for a more in depth review.

November 2014 Empties

November 2014 Empties
A cozy background for this snowy weather we’re having

Laneige Power Essential Skin Refiner Moisture

This was part of a trial set I received when purchasing Laneige products. It has a pleasant scent and softens my skin as prep for the next step. Would definitely repurchase this again.

Laneige Water Bank Essence

This was part of a trial set I received when purchasing Laneige products. See the full review here.

Laneige Water Bank Moisture Cream

This was part of a trial set I received when purchasing Laneige products. This is great as a night cream as it is thicker than the lotion and really gives my skin a hydrating boost. It feels like there’s a slight greasy residue, but if you continue massaging it into your skin, that goes away. I love how soft it makes my skin feel.

Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel

Full review here.

Shisheido Ultimune

See my full review of it here.

Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion

Pretty good body lotion for summer time. It soaks right into the skin and doesn’t leave an greasy residue. I just finished it but am finding it not quite hydrating enough for the winter months. 聽Will definitely repurchase in warmer months.

Crabtree & Evelyn Hand Therapy Collection Citron honey & coriander

This was part of a trio one of my girlfriends gave me. It has a strong lemon scent but not too overbearing. I like applying it just before I go to bed, but for the days when my hands are so beaten up from a day’s worth of hand sanitizer use, it’s not enough to hydrate my skin. Otherwise, using it during the day has been really nice.

Lanc么me G茅nifique Yeux Light Pearl聽

Bigger review coming soon as it’s still being written. This was hydrating for my lids and under eye area for sure, but because this was a small sample size, I can’t comment on how illuminating it was or how it’s anti-aging property was. Pricey when you look at the website, so I’m not sure if I will repurchase this.

Lancome Teint Idole Fresh Wear

This is no longer made, but I had picked it up at a previous L’Oreal Warehouse sale. I loved how sheer the coverage was and how light and airy it was for every day. I’m not sure if it’s been replaced with another product, but this one is discontinued. What a shame because I really liked this!

Aveeno Eczema Care Moisturizing Cream

A skin saver for the times that I’m itching like crazy. It’s so hard once you make the first scratch, to not continue scratching. This coupled with willpower has saved my skin from becoming raw, inflamed and bleeding. 聽I’m not sure how much different this is compared to regular Aveeno, but they both work for me.

July, August, September, and October 2014 Empties

with one comment

Oops! I was on a bit of a hiatus for the last few months and hadn’t blogged in a while. I did keep track of what I used up, so this should be one big pile of empties!

July-October 2014 Empties
4 months worth!

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil

I’ve had this for quite a while and loved using it as a finishing powder over foundation. A little bit goes a long way and it’s so silky smooth. It took me over a year to get through this so it’s well worth the money!

Make Up For Ever HD High Definition Primer

I had heard really good reviews for this but it’s not my favourite. Personally, I didn’t like how liquid-like it felt and I wasn’t sure if it really held my foundation any longer than without. Perhaps I’m used to the feel of silicone based ones but I didn’t really like this one.

Biotherm Aquasource Superserum

Full review here.

Lanc么me Advanced G茅nifique

This is the new improved formulation of their award winning G茅nifique. I have a review cooking up for both formulations so look forward to it!

Laneige Water Bank Eye Gel Cream

I honestly love this line and will continue to use it for as long as it works on my skin! The Water Bank line is perfect for those with dry skin and does absolute wonders for me during the winter. Read my full review for it here.

St. Ives Deep Restoring 24 Hour Moisture

I used to use this in university and then forgot about it for a while. I had picked this up again when it was on sale at my local Shoppers Drugs Mart, plus cash back on my Checkout51 account making this bottle costing me only $0.50! How could I not? It soaks into my skin pretty quickly and leaves it feeling nice and smooth. I liked that 12 hours later, my skin still felt really smooth. Definitely repurchasing this one again.

Lanc么me Tonique Radiance

One of my favourite toners, as well as Mr. Pixelbunny’s. Read my full review for it here.

Maybelline Baby Lips in Quenched and Peppermint

This lip balm remains my favourite one to keep in my pocket while at work. It definitely keeps my lips moisturized and replenishes moisture when they’re dry and flaky. I’ve already bought 3 more backups too.

Kate Somerville Oil Free Moisturizer

A sample I received in a Sephora order last year that I finally got around to using now. It’s definitely light and luxurious feeling, but there definitely wasn’t enough for me to see any skin changes. For the price tag of an actual jar, I likely won’t be purchasing one.

L’oread Youth Code Pore Vanisher

This was a sample I received in my Loulou magazine subscription. I actually liked this and contemplated purchasing one but decided to finish what I had first. It doesn’t come out clear, but more of a peachy tone instead. It has a slight tint to it that worked for my skin tone. Pores were “vanished” and made for a nice canvas for my foundation. I also like wearing it on its own just to cover some of the larger pores around my nose. Definitely one to consider.

Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes

I absolutely adore these wipes, especially when traveling. Costco used to sell big boxes of 6 + 2 travel packs but I’m not sure if they still do. I need to hunt around and see if they still exist. They get off every bit of makeup on my face, even most of my eyeliner and mascara. I need to use another eye makeup remover for the lasting bits (Lanc么me Bi Facil to the rescue!) but it gets off most of what’s there. Definitely a repurchase.

June 2014 Empties

without comments

Only two empties this month. And they’re two favourites too!

June 2014 Empties

Lanc么me Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover

I’ve lost track of how many bottles I’ve gone through. It is my favourite eye makeup remover and will continue to be! Last I checked, I still have 2 backup bottles in my stash in addition to the mega bottle I opened up recently. If you have any stubborn waterproof makeup with everlasting staying power, this stuff is magical and takes it right off!

Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Daily Cleanser Foaming Formula

After trying multiple facial cleansers, this one is the one that I find works best with my Clarisonic Mia. Almost every other cleanser I’ve used stings the eyes, but this stuff doesn’t sting at all. And non-stinging formulas are key when using cleansers with any type of Clarisonic. No matter how you manoeuvre it, your cleanser WILL run and it WILL get into your eyes. I’ll write another post about my Clarisonic later, but for the purposes of this post, I love this facial cleanser and highly recommend it. I also have a backup in my stash in addition to the one I just opened.

May 2014 Empties
It’s time for May 2014 empties!

Garnier Refreshing Remover Cleansing Towelettes

Makeup wipes are a must for lazy people (aka – me) and for traveling as well. These wipes did an excellent job taking off all of my makeup, and most of the waterproof stuff as well. I had some trouble getting waterproof eyeliner and mascara, but that job I usually reserve for my trusty Lanc么me Bi-Facil. Otherwise, makeup comes off easily and leaves me with a nice, fresh scent!

Marcelle BB Cream

Full review here. I can’t believe I actually finished this! This has been my go-to for work as it is super easy to put on in the morning, and out the door I go. I’m really proud of myself for finishing a whole tube, and this was the larger 70ml size too!

Laneige Water Bank Essence

Full review here. I love this and would absolutely repurchase it again. It is perfect during the drying winter months for me, or for those with dry skin. I highly recommend this Laneige line!

Nude ProGenius treatment oil

I received this cute mini pump bottle as a sample from a Sephora order. I’d never tried oils before so I wasn’t sure how I would like it. Surprisingly enough, it’s not as bad as I expected. I had literally pictured oil being slathered on my face for a greasy finish, but this absorbed nicely into my skin and left it with a nice glow. The mini size made it good for travel and it gave my dry skin a nice boost in hydration. I liked it for night time, but I felt it was too much for day time application.
